WE ARE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME OUR KALTJITI FRIENDS BACK TO THE GALLERY WITH THEIR ANNUAL GROUP SHOW PRESENTATION TITLED ‘CONTINUING OUR STORY’. YAAMA GANU HAS A LONG AND SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE APY STUDIO, WITH FRIENDS OF THE GALLERY DRAWN TO THE ARTIST’S STORIES OF COUNTRY, BRILLIANT COLOUR AND LARGE SCALE CANVAS.
‘Artmaking is a way of expressing place, culture, land and identity – for the Fregon Artists this artmaking practice continues today – constantly mapping their stories and expressing the nuance that is central ‘to each individual’s story.
The selected works in this exhibition were painted during the course of 2024/25 and are intended to offer an intimate insight into each artist’s vibrant and diverse artistic expression – as they continue to reaffirm their connection to and love of country. It is hoped that the works also evoke a glimpse of the country so familiar to the artists and their families – and respectfully acknowledging their Culture – the journey, and the dreaming that continues to be shared through their paintings and stories.
Each generation of painter adds something new and exciting to the traditions set before them – we hope this show of recent works highlights this and speaks to our continued desire to share our Tjukurpa.’
