George See

George See was born in Dubbo, Central New South Wales Australia under the Wirradjurri tribal totem.

George has held numerous solo exhibitions and his naïve storytelling in his art has captured local audiences with sell-out exhibitions.

The subjects he has covered include such things as swimming at the river, watching the football, working on the land, visiting relatives at the mission, fencing, drought, the local show and ‘all those crazy situations that you get yourself into as a naïve youngster.’

Moree Plains Gallery Director Katrina Rumley said, “George See is one of the most significant emerging artists in our region. His unique figure paintings recall stories from his childhood. The pictures are wild with colour and portray so intensely Australian outback life in the 1970s when George was growing up.”

See plans to gradually map his life through painting, past and present, so that he can leave behind his life stories for many more generations to come. He believes it is vital that traditional Aboriginal stories are kept flowing from generation to generation as it is important for the younger generation to know the unique environment in which their parents grew up.
