Bidyadanga is the largest remote Aboriginal community in Western Australia, with a population of approximately 750 residents, and is home to the Karajarri (traditional owners), Juwalinny, Mangala, Nyungamarta and Yulparitja language groups. Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community (La Grange) is located on the Kimberley coast in Western Australia, 1590 kilometres from the capital city of Perth and 180 kilometres from Broome.

Growing out of a partnership between Kimberley Training Institute and Kullarri Regional CDEP Incorporated, Bidyadanga Community Art Centre supports Bidyadanga artists to complete courses in Certificate I, II and III Visual Arts as well as Cert III in Arts Administration. Stemming from a desire to maintain and re-tell stories told by the old people, artists were motivated to establish themselves as working artists as well as to celebrate and encourage the younger generation to maintain strong language and culture. The community artists aim to utilise their training in a tangible way, to establish themselves as commercially successful artists. They are currently working on the sustainability of their art centre in the community.

Bidyadanga Community Art Centre continues to champion emerging artists and recognises all five language groups in their artistic and individual mark-making – from desert to coastal inspiration, mixing desert colours with vibrant and dramatic coastal hues.
